Recipe: Gaajar ka Halwa (Carrot halwa)

Summary: Sweet dish made with carrots and milk. The orange-colored taproot of the carrot contains a high concentration of beta-carotene. Carrots are also a very good source of dietary fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K,  folate and manganese, and a good source of vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, iron, potassium and copper.

IngredientsGAAJAR KA HALWA

  • Carrots…. 4-5 nos
  • Milk……2 cups
  • Sugar…. 1 cup
  • Butter…. 1tbspn
  • Cashew nut…. for garnish
  • Cardamom powder…. 1 tspn
  • Saffron.. for garnish(optional)

Instructions

  1. Grate the carrots.
  2. Take a pan and heat butter. Add the carrots and fry for some time.
  3. Then add the milk and sugar and mix well( you can also add condensed milk for better flavour).
  4. Add the cardamom powder and mix well.
  5. Stir well and cook uncovered for 5-10 mins.
  6. Remove from heat. Garnish with cashew nuts and saffron.
